The website presents climatological characteristics of selected weather elements in Poland. The information is based on the verified data (QC analysis) from Central Historical Database of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute.

Climatological maps show spatial differentiation of selected weather elements in Poland in successive years of the period 2010-2015 and long-term means 1971-2000: mean air temperature (°C), precipitation totals (mm), sunshine duration (hours) and extreme air temperatures (°C). Temperature extremes were distinguished by 5% occurrence probability (minimum air temperature – 5th percentile and maximum air temperature – 95th percentile). It means that such a value might be expected once per 20 years.

The maps have been prepared for particular months, seasons and annual means also to present anomalies with respect to the 1971-2000 period. The analyses were performed using data from synoptic stations (stations of 1st and 2nd order, regarding the latest terminology). Spatial information was obtained using selected interpolation methods after their thorough validation. However, spatial and temporal differentiation of weather phenomena is sometimes so significant that it seems to be almost impossible to present the details on maps of the whole country.
